{"id":3910,"date":"2024-08-13T09:06:47","date_gmt":"2024-08-13T08:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/?p=3910"},"modified":"2024-09-25T07:07:09","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T06:07:09","slug":"breeam-v7-pre-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/news\/breeam-v7-pre-release\/","title":{"rendered":"BREEAM V7 Pre-Release"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week we posted about the recent news from BRE regarding the pre-release of the BREEAM UK Non-domestic Version 7 manual. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Envision has now completed a detailed review of the changes, which you can <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/wp-content\/uploads\/BREEAM-v7-review-Envision.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>read here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some key features are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key drivers &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increased importance is placed on embodied carbon and the use of life cycle assessments (LCA\u2019s) on projects, specifically aligning more with the LETI embodied carbon templates and the use of data in kgCO<sub>2<\/sub>e\/m<sub>2<\/sub>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain the level for health and wellbeing, aligning with new standards for natural and artificial light, which previously focused on outdated methodologies.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Re-focus the weighting of energy and carbon on grid emission factors, increase the use of prediction of operational energy consumption data, and push for the electrification of buildings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/wp-content\/uploads\/BREEAM-v7-review-Envision.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"622\" height=\"824\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u2018Read-our-detailed-review-of-the-BREEAM-Version-7-standards-here.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3911\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u2018Read-our-detailed-review-of-the-BREEAM-Version-7-standards-here.jpg 622w, https:\/\/dev.erjjiostudios.com\/envision\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u2018Read-our-detailed-review-of-the-BREEAM-Version-7-standards-here-400x530.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Read our detailed review of the BREEAM Version 7 standards here<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RIBA Stage 2 requirements remain<\/strong> \u2013 RIBA Stage 2, or concept design, credits remain within V7, with some being required to achieve Outstanding ratings. Therefore, please get a BREEAM assessor on board for your projects as early in the process as possible as early action will continue to be important for higher ratings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New minimum standards \u2013<\/strong> many minimum standards remain from the existing V6 standards, with some additions particularly with Excellent and Outstanding ratings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is a huge drive towards completing Life Cycle Assessments for projects, with an LCA required to be completed at <strong>any <\/strong>stage for an Excellent and<strong> every<\/strong> stage for an Outstanding.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A form of TM54 analysis is now required for an Excellent <strong>and <\/strong>Outstanding rating.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new requirement for natural light, and achieving good daylight factors, is a minimum requirement for an Outstanding rating. This will penalise buildings with deep floor plates which do not offer good daylight penetration.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The water consumption baselines have been increased, meaning achieving the required improvements over the baseline for Good ratings and above are now harder. There is also a slight change in the % required to achieve credits.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The impact of refrigerants, and their emissions, has been included as a mandatory for Excellent <strong>and<\/strong> Outstanding ratings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scoring <\/strong>\u2013 There are no changes to the weighting process for V7, however the threshold for \u2018pass\u2019 and \u2018good\u2019 ratings have been reduced by 5% each (40% and 25% respectively).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Simple buildings<\/strong> \u2013 The \u2018simple buildings\u2019 approach has been removed from the UK scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EU Taxonomy alignment<\/strong> \u2013 Across the scheme there is a much better alignment with EU taxonomy requirements, with overlap between evidence for BREEAM and evidence for EU taxonomy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, as always expected from the BRE, the V7 scheme is a step change than the previous V6, with the aim to always push forwards sustainability in the built environment and \u2018raise the bar\u2019 for sustainability as a whole.
