I am a retired fire officer with over 30 years of experience with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. I served both operationally as a watch officer and also as a Fire Safety Enforcement Officer / Inspector within the fire prevention and protection departments. Joining the IFSM in June 2017 and have been a member of this organisation since then.

I have previously been working self-employed as a Fire Safety Consultant and Fire Risk Assessor with Total Fire Group since June 2017. Having currently completed in excess of 800 comprehensive FRAs for several clients. Many of these FRAs were carried out on High Rise dwellings and flats / apartment buildings post Grenfell.

My main line of work involved carrying out life safety Fire Risk Assessments on various premises, on behalf of Total Fire Group, ranging from schools and commercial buildings to sheltered housing and dwelling flats. I have also conducted FRAs on historical and heritage buildings. I conduct fire safety / consultancy work to specific requirements for clients, so as to ensure their compliance with current regulations and guidance. I have also conducted a Type 4 destructive FRA on a high rise apartment building, for a well known housing provider in Liverpool.

Since February 2023 I began working full time for the National Trust as a fire risk assessor, covering the Trust properties in the North West of England and North Wales, as part of the country wide Operational Risk Team.
