Philip has over 30 years’ experience in the London Fire Brigade predominantly in an operational role & achieved Member status with The Institution of Fire Engineers. He attended the Fire Service College on numerous occasions including the16 week ‘long’ fire prevention course.

An Associate Fire Risk Assessor with the BRE in 2007, he became actively involved supporting his local borough FS team and subsequently acquired an IFE Fire Risk Auditor accreditation. Philip worked on local projects including COMAH off-site plans for the West London Oil Terminal and a 4-acre timber framed flats construction site project ensuring compliance with CDM regs & the FSO.

In 2012 he retired from the LFB & established Hurtwood Fire Risk Management Ltd & details of his current and extensive client base can be seen at www.hurtwoodfire.co.uk Philip has completed numerous risk assessments in a range of occupancy types and buildings from flats, schools, theatres, offices, shops, hotels, marinas, night clubs, pubs in addition Hurtwood Fire provides FS training, management and fire strategy work for these clients.

He recently achieved accreditation with the Warrington Fire Risk Assessors Certification and now the Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessors Register (NAFRAR) credential.
